The Division of Commercial Licensing and Regulation is responsible for the regulation and licensing of Resident, Non-resident and Apprentice Auctioneers holding auctions within the State of Rhode Island. Reciprocity is allowed with auctioneers who hold licenses in states that have reciprocity with Rhode Island. Examinations are administered to those who are not apprentices, or non-residents with no reciprocal license.

All licenses are renewed on a triennial basis.
